There are many benefits of adding salts to your baths. Not only does it help with sore muscles and relaxing, it also helps provide minerals to your body in an easy to absorb way.
Baths are a mom’s best friend. Silly, I know, but so true. There really is something so soothing about filling up a tub with warm water, some soap and soaking your cares away. *bliss*
However, baths can also be healing and medicinal. I have been a big fan of Epsom salts for a long time and use them for so many things. The past few months I have been hard core working at mineral balancing with my NTP. She posted a bit about adding other salts to your bath in her Facebook group and I was intrigued.
Well, hello! More salt for my bath? Sure!
You see, adding more salt (and a good shake of baking soda) help your body absorb the minerals more. When you give the co factors that work to help with things like the magnesium in the Epsom salts, your body gets more bang for the buck, so to speak.
Magnesium is a tough mineral to absorb, especially for those with compromised gut health. (Anyone that has an autoimmune disorder falls into this category) So, adding Epsom salts or magnesium flakes to your bath is a good way to start raising your magnesium levels. (Again, which most of really need!)
It was a mind blow though when I read more about adding the others salts and baking soda to help the magnesium. After my first bath of adding a mix of salts to my eppies, I was a big puddle. I was so relaxed and ready for bed. Sigh. What a great feeling!
Minerals are your body’s building blocks. When your minerals are depleted and out of whack your body can’t function properly. Getting your body’s minerals stores back into balance can bring healing to the body. I have been so impressed with how my body is responding to getting proper nutrition and minerals.
So, back to the salts! Here are a few varieties for you to play around with. Everyone responds differently so I suggest playing with small amounts until you find your sweet spot of bath salts.

Salts to try!
I also love to add essential oils to the mix. Lavender is a favorite of mine but pick which on you like best. A good blend can be amazing.
Aren’t a fan of baths? (Sigh, we can still be friends!) Try a foot bath. All it takes is filling a basin with hot water and dissolving your salts and oils. Sit back and play on the computer, read a book or watch a movie. You will get the same benefits of taking a full fledged bath with out the commitment. 😉
