DIY bug bite relief roll on

I love summer but just like everything, it has some pit falls. One of the big ones for us are bugs. More accurately, bug bites. Ick.

We live in the country so there is no escaping them, especially mosquitoes.  They are hard to avoid and seriously, they storm you when you go outside. Literally, you feel like you are on the skeeter buffet.

A DIY bug bite relief roll on. This easy remedy is made of a mixture of essential oils in a base oil to help soothe itches bites and stings and is kid safe.

We use a variety of things to lessen the attack but we always end up with a few bites.

Plantain salve is something I typically use but sometimes it isn’t convenient to dig at the container of it. Since I started using essentials more and more I decided to see how effective oils can be for the itch and bites.

After playing with a few combinations, I decided that simple is best and stuck with just two basic oils. Lavender and tea tree oil.

If you are going to invest in some essential oils, these two are ones that are very versatile. For as many oils as I have, both tea tree oil and lavender always get a work out from my family.

This DIY bug bite relief roll is quick and easy to throw together a few tubes and keep in your diaper bag or purse.

This oil is also diluted so it is totally safe to use with kids. It is pretty rare if I would use an essential oil straight but not with my kids. If you want to read more, you can find some great information and charts, like this one, from Plant Therapy.

Very helpful. I’ve been using tea tree lotion but I like your tip for lavender, tea tree and fractionated oil. Will have to try. thanks!

Hi Jan! There is a link in the post where I find roll on bottles. Fractionated coconut oil is just a processed version of the oil to make it to doesn’t solidify, perfect for a carrier oil.
